My brother wrote :
“After you become a Christian, you’re to grow in FAITH (faith comes from hearing or reading the word of God”, in Grace (God’s loving kindness for what you don’t deserve), in all spiritual understanding, wisdom, in the knowledge of His word, His Son Jesus Christ, His saving grace . This’s what we pray for people who has been saved, for your children. The unsaved people don’t understand or cannot understand the Bible because they are not indwelled with the HS a.ka the Teacher or Helper. We call the condition as “spiritual blindness”. Ever heard of the song called “amazing grace” . There is a verse that says ” was blind now I see”. Another song “open the eyes of my heart”. heart has no eyes. What that means is the spiritual blindness. When you are able to see from God’s perspective (HIS VIEWPOINT) you’re eyes are opened. E.g the holiness of God. His justice. The bible uses His holiness as Holy, Holy, Holy i.e thrice holy to emphasize His attributes. Holy means separates from His creation. You are inside the box and God is on the outside. God cannot look upon sin because of his holiness. Sin separates you from God. His infinite justice requires/demands a payment for sin. Wages of sin is death(eternal separation from God) Rom 5:8. We’re all born with a sinful nature and we can’t satisfy God’s Justice. But Jesus Christ(God sent, virgin born) was sinless so he qualifies to be a substitute for the sin of mankind. So when JC died on the cross the sin of everyone is atoned for. This is what the Gospel is about. The message is universal, for everyone. You have to accept JC as who He is who He says He is. This is what we call God’s way of salvation Not by doing some good works and hope God will see you in good favor as in ALL OTHER RELIGION! Human’s wisdom says do good works and hope. True Christianity says it all done! “Believe by faith in the Lord JC and thou shalt be saved”. Believe entails action, to trust and to obey God’s word and His laws.
The first commandment says:” You shall love the God with all your heart, soul, mind and might. Besides Me there is no other “. In simple words that’s all of you. The God of the Bible is not Allah, not Kuan Yin, Krisna and other deities. The Jehovah, Yahweh God is referred as the MOST High GOD. He is knowable as He reveals Himself in the Bible. All other deities are unknown or can be known as in Allah.
So much for some the truths about the gospel. I don’t know if you know this from your Alpha 1 and 2 course or not. Start asking your Pastor about what I just wrote above.
Try this as a challenge: what words can you use from A to Z to describe the attributes of Jehovah God of the bible. If you know Him you should be able to this w/o any problems. Next time you see your business partner, ask if he can tell something about his god. Ask how much good works is enough, on what scale. Whether his god can have a relationship with him. What assurance his god gives him that he keeps his promises (faithfulness).Ask if any of the founders( Buddha, Mohammed, Joseph Smith) is alive or has promised to return. Ask if any of them ever performs miracles or been prophesied hundreds of years before their births?
You have to know and understand to defend the faith. Just remember the Bible is not written by men, it is God inspired and revealed to the writers some 40 of them separated by hundreds of years apart and it is consistent. Has been attacked for hundreds of years yet it still stands and has not proven to be false. It claims to be inerrant and infallible (i.e free from errors or trustworthy or capable or erring).
I get a lot of attacks, it is just a book written by men. No it is not. The HS leads the holy men to write. The author is God because the people who penned the words did not know what others have written nor have met them. In some cases they don’t understand what was written but they they put them down anyway. Take for instance in Daniel and in Revelation, about those animals with multiple wings and heads. Yet everything is consistent. Try two authors separated by one generation apart and put together a book that compliments each other in all aspects.

I am sure that salvation comes through faith alone in Jesus Christ, not by our own works of righteousness in the flesh. I just wish everyone else could see this truth. I think they get hung up on the commandments of God and seek to keep them by their own works, and not by faith alone in Jesus. For those who do so, please consider this, consider your ways. The bible,for example, commands us not to lie. 1 John 2:22 tells us a liar is one who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Therefore, when we believe he is the Christ, we are no longer liars according to the biblical definition of a liar in 1 John. All the commandments are kept like this one through faith in Jesus. When we believe in him, we fulfill the commandments of God which are telling us to believe Jesus is the Christ, for example we are not to lie, or deny that JEsus is the Christ in unbelief. In other words, the commandment not to lie is a commandment not to deny JEsus is the Christ, but a commandment to believe he indeed is. For it is through faith we are saved. This is God’s commandment, to believe on JEsus and abide in the faith. To see other commandments according to the biblical interpretation by rightly dividing the word of truth, please visit this bible study website. Another example, we are commanded not to steal. If we steal, we are thieves, but if not we are not thieves. In John chapter 10, Jesus told us to seek salvation any other way than through him makes us thieves. THerefore, when we climb up through faith in Jesus alone, we are not theives who steal, spiritually speaking of course, for the law of God is spiritual according to Romans 7:14. The entire bible is spiritual and is not given for private intepretation based on our own natural wisdom and understanding. We are to let God define the words of the bible. Jude speaks of those who are carnally, or naturally minded.
